On my previous post about how you would know your skin type, I have shared that I have an oily skin. Having an oily skin is really a struggle since I was a teen. I have never been ready for stolen shots, I cannot leave the house without loose powder on my pouch and I cannot do woke-up-like-this photos because my face gets oily when I wake up in the morning. I don't know but oily skin seems to be embarrassing. It makes you think that people look at your face because it is always shiny and sticky. Have you experienced these too?

Blotting paper, oil-control film or absorbent facial papers have been my best friend in fighting oily skin. Not only they keep me shine-free it also removes the sticky feeling. Some blotting papers also have powders in them that gives you a matte finish so you don't need to bring out your compact powder all the time. Clean & Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets and Bench Prescribe Facial Absorbent Paper are some of my fave blotting papers. This is a must-have especially when you travel a lot.

7. CHOOSE OIL-FREE PRODUCTS

Lastly, after doing all the skin care we should also consider what we apply on top of our skin - the make-up. If you have oily skin you don't want products that will make your skin look shinier right? So choose oil-free make-ups that won't clogged up your pores like Essence All About Matt Oil-Free Makeup or Happy Skin ZZ Cream.

Before using any skin care product on your skin it's good to know your skin type first. This is very important as you may damage your skin if you are not careful enough.

 As we all know, the skin is the largest organ of our body. It has 3 layers: the epidermis, the dermis and the inner subcutaneous fat layer. Without the skin our body will be exposed to different external factors. It is also very important in regulating temperature, heat, water and gives us the sense of touch. Since we will be talking much about beauty products which are usually applied to our skin, I thought this might be a good start.

You can undergo skin tests to have accurate results but we can also do it by looking into the characteristics of each type of skin. But keep in mind that skin types changes over time. At some point we may have normal skin but when the amount of water on our skin, for example decreases, it may become dry. Our age, the food we eat, the amount of water we take, our genes, the weather condition, the products we use on our body may also affect our skin type in time.

SKIN TYPE 1: THE NORMAL SKIN

It's simple, normal skin means your skin is not too dry and not too oily. This is the type of skin that we all want. It is radiant and often has few or no imperfections at all. It is not sensitive and has no blemishes. You also have fine pores and has a soft velvety texture, just like baby skin. It is pimple-free and well-moisturized.



SKIN TYPE 2: THE DRY SKIN

Normal skin usually tends to dry out easily. Dry skin are usually flaky and rough. The skin cracks and becomes less elastic. It is often itchy and pores are almost invisible. It usually looks dull and felt tight just like the skin of our heels.



SKIN TYPE 3: THE OILY SKIN

The Oily skin is caused by over-production of sebum. According to researches, sebum production increases because of genetic factors, the medicines we are taking, when we are experiencing stress or hormonal imbalance, or because of the products we are applying on our skin.

I have oily skin since I was a teen. My skin is very prone to blackheads and whiteheads. It always looks glossy. My pores seemed to be open all the time. It has a dull complexion and it turns red when exposed to direct sunlight.



SKIN TYPE 4: THE COMBINED SKIN TYPE

Combination skin type means you have an oily T-zone and a normal or dry skin on the cheek area. The skin on your forehead, nose and chin is usually oily and has enlarged pores which is prone to mild breakouts.


SKIN TYPE 5: THE SENSITIVE TYPE

Sensitive skin may have consistent reddish complexion. It is itchy and has a burning sensation when touched. It is easily irritated and dries out faster when harsh products are used.

Different skin type requires different skin care routines and techniques. Not all skin care products may be applied to your skin type. Being careless with this can either improve your skin condition or worsen it. So choose skin care products according to your skin type.
